MERCEDES-BENZ S350

Brabus has just introduced what it claims to be the world’s first performance diesel kit that passes Euro 6 emissions standards. The Mercedes-Benz S350 BlueTec (the most fuel-efficient S-Class ever) with the Brabus ECO PowerXtra D6S kit offers high-performance motoring that is also highly environmentally conscious.

The new ECO PowerXtra D6S kit brings engine output up from 190kW of power and 620Nm of torque, to 230kW and 690Nm. Although the revisions don’t provide massive gains in output, they are enough to improve the car’s acceleration: 0-100km/h can now be dispatched in just 6.5 seconds (7.1 seconds in standard form).
The kit is simply an ECU upgrade, which means the car’s original on-board driving modes can still be toggled. In ‘Eco’ mode, the car’s computer is set up so maximum torque can still be achieved, but the engine’s power is capped to the original output of 190kW, aiding fuel consumption. In ‘Manual’ and ‘Sport’ modes however, maximum power and torque can be extracted from the engine under full acceleration.

Brabus says the package can also be adapted to the Mercedes-Benz E350 CDI BlueEfficiency as well as the Mercedes-Benz CLS350 CDI BlueEfficiency models, and still offer identical engine performance outputs.
Brabus supplies a three year/100,000km warranty on the kit and also offers a quad-outlet stainless steel exhaust system to supplement the modifications.
Even with ever-tightening emission laws, it’s great to see passionate tuning companies meeting superior levels of efficiency.
