Since it is just a study, the revisions on show are said to be a preview of what to expect from the manufacturer and the 1 Series in the near future. Aspects of the study might also be included on the new BMW 1 Series M Sport, with its usual sporty enhancements.
Judging by these images though, which were recently posted on 1adicts BMW 1 Series forums, BMW could be going for a more dramatic and aggressive approach when it comes to sports options. The Performance Studie features a large, deep chin spoiler on the front.
Down the side, the Performance Studie features black-shadowed wheels with polished spoke surfaces – unlike BMW sports models we’ve become used to. The two-tone theme is carried over to the chunky rear bumper bar with black details. Black racing stripes over the entire car complete the look.
As for what’s under the bonnet, it’s all a bit of a mystery at this stage. Reports suggest BMW might be planning to offer slight performance upgrades for certain variants with the next M Sport, but this Performance Studie might feature something completely different.
All will be revealed at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show which starts on September 13. We’ll keep you updated. In the meantime, what do you think of the design? Just right or over the top? Feel free to give us your thoughts in the comments section below.
